REPORT OF THE OPENING CEREMONY ON ACCREDITATION OF NCE PROGRAMMES CONDUCTED BY THE NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR COLLEGES OF EDUCATION (NCCE) ON 19TH SEPTEMBER, 2022

1.0 INTRODUCTION
The College presented a total number of 26 NCE programmes for fresh round of accreditation by the National Commission of Colleges of Education (NCCE). The last exercise was conducted in 2016. After five years the programmes are due for fresh accreditation.

2.0 SPEECHES PRESENTED
At the opening ceremony on 19th September, 2022, speeches were presented by the Provost, Dr. Ismaila Ado Funtua, the Special Adviser Department of Higher Education Dr. Bashir Usman Ruwan Godiya and the Executive Secretary (NCCE) represented by the Deputy Director Academic Programmes of the Commission Dr. Moses Afolabi.
The Provost welcomed the team, then discussed on the essence and need for accreditation. He commended His Excellency Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari CFR for his multifaceted support for the College and for funding the exercise. He stressed that inspite of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund’s Intervention in training academic staff, His Excellency was not complaisant by expending millions of naira on staff development for those not able to access the Fund’s sponsorship.
The representative of the Visitor to the College Dr. Bishir Usman Ruwan Godiya commended the College for it’s sustenance of Academic standards and expressed gratitude to the accreditation team led by the Acting Director of the Commission for embarking on the exercise in the College inspite of the insecurity situation in the vicinity. He stressed the resolve of the State Government to ensure school attendance by pupils and students as well as sustain educational pursuit, against all odds.
The Special Adviser likened accreditation exercise to driver’s license, pointing out that the exercise is also certified, without which NCE awarding institutions could not operate.
In his response, the Commission’s Deputy Director explained the modus operand; for the exercise and the resources, records that would be scrutinized as well as the requirements that should be met.
3.0 CONCLUSION
The accreditation commenced with the opening ceremony and would end on 21st September, 2002 during which exit report would be presented.
